CONTRIBUTION TO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LIFE

Many of my research publications have appeared in International journals and also hosted on the worldwide web and these are significant contributions to knowledge at both national and international levels. Also attendance and contributions at conferences (national) and the contributions towards the production of skilled microbiologist as graduates from the department added to the stock of the needed science graduates of the nation.

CONTRIBUTION TO KNOWLEGDE

As a researcher in the field of Microbiology, my researches had investigated and addressed the impact of human activities on the  environment as well as the effect of the environment on human health as relates to the microbiological qualities of soil, water, foods, mobile phones  and equipment  (2,3,4,9,13,15,16,17).The global emergence of antimicrobial resistant microorganisms to antimicrobial drugs has also led to researches (1,7,8,11,18) that focused on  medicinal plants to be investigated for better understanding of their antimicrobial properties, safety and efficacy, in  which findings had justified the ethno botanical uses of some plants.

Urinary tract infection is one of the most common medical problems that pregnant women face, some of my researches (5) evaluated the prevalence of UTI and asymptomatic bacteriuria (10) in pregnant women, causative agents and to ascertain factors that predispose these women to bacteriuria. High incidence rates of 47.5% and 52% of bacteriuria discovered raised health concern for mothers and foetus. The need for personal hygiene, awareness of UTIs and to expand services for prevention and treatment for pregnant women were highlighted in the studies.
