 Contribution to the Nation

My research area focus on the health of the people living in the rural areas with special interest on the kind of available water sources and the health impact of such water. My area of research will go a long way in solving most of the water related diseases that are being faced by people living in the rural areas of Nigeria. Majority of these people lack access to potable water. They depend mostly on stream water sources as a sole source of water for their domestic use. The water sources are not potable and therefore contain pathogenic organisms that are hazardous to life. Molecular method of characterisation therefore provides more information on the organisms that will help better understanding of their characteristics, enhance appropriate treatment and eventually improve livelihood of the people.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LIFE

 Within the University

Within the University system, I served The Academic Staff Union of University Cooperative Multipurpose Society as the Public Relation Officer (P.R.O.) from 2012-2015. I am also the Faculty of Science Coordinator of the Women Association     (OOUWA) of the University. The Faculty of Science of this University also recognised my activities within the Faculty with an award ‘Face of Faculty’ in the year 2016/2017.

 Outside the University

The International experience that I had includes various programs, contributions and participation at Conferences in different Countries for diverse fields of study. I participated in TWOWS (Third World Organization for Women in Science) in China where I presented a research poster in 2012. Also, at The First International WATERBIOTECH Conference on Biotechnology for Africa’s Sustainable Water Supply held at The National Research Centre (NRC), Cairo, Egypt, I presented a paper.

In addition, I have over ten published articles in reputable Internal Journals which are available for access online. All these have contributed to knowledge and are being cited by other authors. Most of these online journals are being downloaded online by students of Microbiology.

I was opportune to give a lecture at a Women Conference organized by NASFAT Ijebu Igbo branch in 2015 on ‘The Roles of Women in Bringing up a Muslim Girl Child’. An NGO- Hope for Women, Ijebu North, also invited me in February, 2017 to deliver a lecture titled ‘The Roles of Women in Curbing Child Abuse in our Society’.
