CONTRIBUTION TO KNOWLEDGE
My research activities cover the fields of Applied Geochemistry, Environmental studies and Applied Hydrogeology which deals with rock, soils, sediments, water, dusts and plants. These accumulated ideas and knowledge have been used to resolve various problems. I have examined these geologic media such as rock, soils, sediments, termitarium, ground water, surface water, effluents, abattoir and cattle market wastes, dusts and plants by determining their major, trace, rare earth metal contents, and highlight their importance and impact on the environment and humans. Solutions have been profered to these challenges by calculating percentage of toxic metals that can bio-accumulate and get transferred to humans through plants.
My Ph.D research work was on Geochemical Evaluation of Sediments of the Rivers Draining Ibadan Metropolis, Southwestern Nigeria. This work gives me an opportunity to work on all the sediments of the four major rivers in Ibadan which include Omin, Ona, Ogunpa and Ogbere with their tributaries that include all the springs. The anthropogenic relationship of the quality of these sediments to the surrounding crystalline rocks had been examined. I have also work on petrology and structures of different areas both with sedimentary and basement rocks evaluating their economic importance. I have done research works on various water sources groundwater, surface, spring waste water (effluents), water run-offs and soils of various industries, markets, residential (Low, Medium and High density areas), dump sites to evaluate their relative impacts on humans with comparison to international guidelines and standards.
