Biography

Dr. Folarin Ojo Owagboriaye is at present, a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, Faculty of Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria. In 2009, he was awarded B.Sc. Applied Zoology with First Class Honours from the Department of Plant Science and Applied Zoology, Faculty of Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University. He was also awarded M.Sc and Ph.D Animal Ecophysiology in 2014 and 2018 respectively from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria.  He has won several awards and been a member of some professional bodies. He has been serving as reviewer too (https://publons.com/researcher/1582017/folarin-ojo-owagboriaye/). His research focuses on ecophysiology, ecotoxicology and molecular toxicology which investigates the impacts of environmental xenobiotics (with a special focus on glyphosate-based herbicides and gasoline fumes) on animals as well as their responses (molecular, biochemical, behavioural) to both normal and abnormal environments. His research has demonstrated several health hazards associated with inhalation exposure to gasoline fumes and glyphosate-based herbicide in animals. He is currently working on the mechanisms of toxicities of gasoline fumes and glyphosate-based herbicides in animals using omic technology. He is also, at present, investigating the Impact of glyphosate-based herbicides on non-target soil invertebrates (including earthworm) with great ecological and agricultural significance as well as its implications.
